How your audience joins
Codes, QR codes, what people need on their phones, and what happens when the signal drops.
People join a session in one of two ways:
- By camera. The QR code in the corner of every slide opens the session directly.
- By code. They go to the address on the screen and type the six-digit code, like
482 913. The code is shown with a space so it is easy to read aloud.
What people need
A phone with a web browser. Roomwave works on budget Android phones and older iPhones, and the page they open is small, so it loads quickly on a slow connection. They do not need an app or an account, and they do not give an email address.
Names
Answers are anonymous. For quizzes, everyone gets a friendly nickname for the leaderboard, such as Swift Impala, which they can change. On Q&A slides you decide whether people may add their name to a question.
When the signal drops
Phones reconnect by themselves and catch up with the current slide. A person who reconnects is still the same person, so their earlier answers are kept and they are never counted twice.
How many people can join
Each plan has a limit on the number of people in one session: 50 on Free, 500 on Pro and 1,000 on Organisation. When a session is full, the next phone is told so politely, and you see it on your screen.
