About Roomwave
Made in Nairobi, for the rooms we present in.
Roomwave started at a town hall where three people asked every question and three hundred said nothing.
Afterwards, in the corridor, everyone had something to say. The questions were good ones. They had simply never been asked in the room, because nobody wanted to stand up in front of their manager, and the microphone took five minutes to reach the back.
The tools for this existed, but they were built for fast office networks and new phones. In the halls we know, the Wi-Fi gives out at forty people, half the audience is on mobile data, and the phones range from this year's flagship to a five-year-old Android with a cracked screen.
So we built Roomwave for that room. The page a phone opens is small. It reconnects by itself when the signal drops, and it finds another way through when a venue's network blocks it. It costs nothing for the audience and needs no account, because the people in the room should not have to sign up for anything to be heard.
What we care about
- Every voice. The quiet majority, not just the confident few.
- Real rooms. We test in halls, on mobile data, with budget phones.
- Fair prices in shillings. Free for small rooms, invoices for organisations, no surprises.
- Privacy. Answers are anonymous unless someone chooses otherwise, and we never sell data.
